Unable to connect to DB - FATAL: no pg_hba.conf entry for host "xxx.xxx.x.x", user "postgres", database "postgres", SSL off
I am unable to connect to the DB on the CSSA PVS. I am encountering the following errors.
1.) My PVS is running on IP 192.168.1.6 but the PGAdmin tool refuses to take this I.P. Instead it is always looking at 192.168.1.3. Not sure why the software is picking up xxx.xxx.1.3 instead of xxx.xxx.1.6 which I am entering. Any pointers?
2.) It issues an error 'FATAL: no pg_hba.conf.... '. I went through this thread I could not find this file on my laptop. How can I access this file and the prweb.xml on my laptop?

Postgresql defaults to only allow local access for pgAdmin. To allow external access, locate the pg_hba.conf file and add a new entry:
host all all Proprietary information hidden/0 md5
Reboot the PVS and you should now be able to connect.

The question is HOW to do the steps you mentioned. Can you please post some screen shots on how to add the new entry on the file.
HOW I can access the pg_hba.conf file on my laptop? I did search on my laptop and it is not available. What am I doing wrong?

As I already stated before, The question is HOW to do the steps mentioned in other threads. If you read my original post, I have already read through other threads and am unable to view and or access the pg_hba.conf file which are asking me to edit the pg_hba.conf file. What I am asking in this thread is HOW to access the file on the VM so that I may make changes to it. HOW I can access the pg_hba.conf file on my laptop? I am using a VM and all I see are Virtual Machine Disk Files in the location where the VM is. Can you please post some screen shots instead of asking me to read other threads.

You need to use any SFTP tool (I am using winscp) to access the files/folder.
1. Download winscp
2. create a new connection ( host name : you can get from the pvs port : 22)
3. Log in using the root password of the pvs( mostly it is root/install )
4. go to following folder location
/var/lib/pgsql/9.4/data
5. Change the files as instructed.
