Connecting to Postgres database
I have seen other thread about this, but it did not include anything helpful to my cause. With the PVS instruction I received, the PRPC instance runs in a Fusion virtual machine.
I was working on the HR Services app during the Case Design>Advance Flow Processing topic. Somehow the flow is completely dorked up. So I am trying to revert back to the original installation and try again. While trying to re-install HR Services, there is a required SQL update (the install won't proceed until the change is made).
So I have the SQL DDL, but I cannot connect to the training instance of Postgres in my virtual machine. I am familiar with PGAdminIII and can connect to other Postgres instances from my pc. So I am looking for the connection information for the training instance in the virtual machine.
Any thoughts?

Hi,
You need to tell the DB to listen to your address and grant access.
- login as root/password
- vi /etc/postgresql/9.1/main/postgresql.conf
- Change the line from listen_addresses=’localhost’ to listen_addresses=’*’ (uncomment as well)
- vi /etc/postgresql/9.1/main/pg_hba.conf
- add a line under: local all postgres peer
- host all all Proprietary information hidden/0 trust
- add a line under: local all postgres peer
- /etc/init.d/postgresql restart
Now you can login: postgres/postgres

I had to revise a couple of the steps in the document --note that you have to search for where the folder for PostgreSQL.conf is. It is different with every virtual machine (I.e., I have VMS for the Customer Service training, the SSA training, and the download of Pega7 from the support page).
I'm not sure why Pega has not standardized on one method for Postgres installation...and why do they make it so freaking hard to connect to the DB when it is a critical step to truly understand how Pega works?
