Will wait shape create and run any thread at back end till the time reach? - PRPC 7.1.8

We have a requirement in our application to wait an assignment for 48 hours. To achieve this, we are thinking to use Wait shape and configure time interval in that.

Our concern is "Using wait shape like this will create any performance issues?". 

Will using the wait shape creates any thread at back ground and running till the specified time reaches?

could someone explain how Wait shape works at background.

The Wait shape utilizes the service level functionality so you will see a queue item created that will be processed by the ServiceLevelEvents agent.
