Pega 7.1.8 Installation on SQL Server Issue
I'm getting below error when I try to Install pega 718 on SQL Server.

I did a PDN search and came across similar error message but that was for oracle and it says some Grants missing. Did anyone face similar issues.

Celeste is right, also even after installation, your real running app server should be in the same datacenter as the database server. Otherwise your system could be really slow and not usable.

I have not seen this myself - I did load pega 7.1.8 into sqlserver locally, question, how did you define the schema 'RULES'? Does the db user have the privilege to RULES?

I need to see the full log to tell what the issue is. From the portion you have posted you are at the step when it is going to start installing the RAP files into the system. That means you should have already created all of the rules and data tables. There should be a previous section in the logs where the DDL was generated and applied.

so you first generated DDL and then apply the DDL manually. And then install by skipping DDL generation/application? the error happens because sqlserver column name is case sensitive. Your DDL is PR_ENGINECLASSES whereas the failure log shows pr_engineclasses. Can you confirm your steps?

I Initially let the IUA do both the DDL and setup but it was just sitting idle after a while. The log PRPC_Setup-2016-02-24-13-00-40.log is from that install.
After that I cleaned up the Database and then tried by checking the option to skip Automatic DDL application. In this case it fails. The log PRPC_Setup-2016-02-25-17-21-34.log is from that install.
How do I control the case? I just give the schema names for RULES and DATA initially and those are in right case. I even validated that using the validate button and it showed that those schema exists, user has access and they are empty.

Please run this query with a db user with db privileges so we can see if your database is setup as case sensitive:

So your database is case insensitive.
If you login as PegaAdmin user can you run this query:
select * from RULES.pr_engineclasses;

If you cleaned up the schema from your first attempt then you cannot bypass DDL generation. The DDL needs to be applied before the install can actually insert data into the tables.

I'm in Seattle and Database is in Washington DC. I accidently closed the earlier installation so had to cleanup and kick off install again. Its again stuck at the same place. Will wait for few minutes and take a thread dump.

An installation is highly database intensive. We recommend you do the install from a node in the same datacenter as the database server. I expect the problem is just that it is just taking a long time communicating with the database.

Thanks Kevin and Celeste. It was indeed taking too long to install. I was able to successfully install by running scripts closer to where DB server is. It still took 5 hours but it installed successfully.

Is RULES the name of your rules schema? Are you trying to install a single or split schema? Please post the complete install log.
