Audience Configuration in a Campaign

The Audience is considered as an optional configuration while creating a multi-channel campaign. Why is this the case?

With no audience configured for the campaign, the campaign can neither execute nor any test (distribution or seedlist)  run on it.

​The Audience is a required component only if you intend to run a multi-channel campaign in scheduled mode.

If you intend to run the campaign only for real-time events, Audience is an optional component. Also, if you intend to run the campaign only to serve real-time container requests then Audience is not even applicable.
