Visual Business Director - empty screen

Hi,

I'm taking the Pega DME7 course with the self-study option. I'm trying to complete the exercise for Decisioning Simulations.

So, I tried to open the Visual Business Director. In the "Views" tab, I clicked on the name "Simulation", and a new VBD window opened, however nothing was displayed there. The screen was completely empty.

Please, what do I need to do to be able to see the VBD content?

Thanks a lot for your post.

Since September 2015, Google updated their browser and stopped supporting the applet API that is used by Visual Business Director. So I'm assuming you tried using Google Chrome browser. Please try again using Internet Explorer.

BTW, in the latest version of "Pega 7" (v7.2) it works again in Google Chrome since we switched to HTML5.

It is also recommended to use the latest version of Java. https://www.java.com/en/download/

I have updated system with java 8 update 91 , but still the same empty screen for VBD in Chrome , I am using "marketing_713ml9_pvs_20151201" Virtual Image from Pega Academy. Same problem in IE 11 also . can you please suggest how to go get VBD working.

Hi,

Google has withdrawn support for java consequently an applet based solution will not function  in Chrome. As Marco has mentions the latest release of  DSM  has an HTML based version which works.

VBD does work with IE 11 but I must say i have not tried it with your particular version of Java.. Please try to clear IE cache and start VBD again.

Can you publish more specific details?

I have the same problem despite using IE11 (11.545.10586.0) and Java 1.8.0_92 version

This is hamphering our Pega marketing course progress. I'm pretty sure many other folks might be running into the same problem.

Jaydev,

When you connect to PRPC, are you using prpc.local? Or do you use IP address?

Also, can you please enable the console in Java configuration (Windows start button->type in Java in the 'Search programs and files') , select Configure Java. And check Show console as shown in the screenshot below:

Then send us the logs that you get.
