Use of System Pulse mechanism after upgrade to 7.1.9

For fresh installation of PEGA 7.1.9 system , the system pulse will use the cluster based pulse rather than the database pulse. If we are updating to 7.1.9 from 7.1.x , I believe the system pulse will continue to use the database pulse . What's PEGA's advice - Do we stick to database pulse when moving from 7.1.x to 7.1.9 or move on to use the cluster based pulse ? What are the pros and cons if any for the same?
