PVS and Email
Hi,
When I test connectivity after creating an email account I get the following error...
MessagingException caught connecting to email server: javax.mail.MessagingException: Unknown SMTP host: smtp.gmail.com;
nested exception is:
java.net.UnknownHostException: smtp.gmail.com
I'm guessing it was because as stated in the Virtual Machine Quick Start Guide (page 8)...
The host-only adapter restricts a VM from accessing the network on which your computer is connected. This means the VM cannot connect to the network your computer is connected to or the internet.
I encountered the same error (UnknownHostException) when I try to Upload a WSDL via URL. Which seems to support my theory.
How do I go about configuring full internet access in VirtualBox???

If you want full access you could try to alter your network setting from host only to bridged.

I tried this and had no luck. I'm guessing I can't do much unless I have the login credentials for the PRPC box. I could be wrong.
Have you done this before?

You change the PVS's network settings through the Oracle Virtual Box Manager.
Being able to log into the PVS operating system will not help other than making it simpler to test external connectivity, for example: ping www.google.com.
The user/pass should be root/install.

Hi PEDEL/HerbertT,
I am facing the same issue too. I have tried both Bridged and NAT configurations for Network Adapter in VM but neither works. With NAT, I am not even able to open Pega Studio from the browser.
With both NAT and Bridged settings, I am able to ping www.google.com.
Kind of stuck at this issue. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Viswa

Doesn't seem to work for me though. Please let me know if it works for you.

Hi,
having internet on the VM is not the easiest thing to configure sometimes.
You will have to play with different settings (Network settings in VirtualBox)
Name, adapter type (for NAT use PCnet-III)
You may have to install the latest version of VirtualBox.
As ViswaCTS mentioned, you will have to tweak GMail but only when you have internet access.
