PRPC 63sp1 to 719 Upgrade
Hi,
We are planning to start Pega Upgrade from 6.3SP1 to 719...
1.We are on Oracle 11g R2 and running 11.1 compatible mode(all the 11.2 features might not available while running 11.1 compatible mode) , is this configuration fine for upgrading to 719?
2. when we did upgrade from 55 to 63sp1(in 2013), our Database restore approach was based on database check point,i.e. if we have any issues after upgrade, we rollback the DB to the previous check point, is this approach fine? do you see any concerns with this Approach? but All pega upgrade docs talks about taking Backup/Restore.

Hi,
Oracle 11g R2 is supported for Pega 7. You can find complete details in platform support guide.
Regarding the checkpoint, it helps in faster recovery and is not usually an alternative to a complete backup. Backing up the entire 6.3 schema is Pega recommended option.

The restore approach looks to be fine, as long as it works. You might be planning to go with Pega 7 split schema upgrade, so make sure the checkpoints are at both the schemas at the same time, or better have it at the DB level and restore the entire DB rather than the specific schemas.
The 11G R2 is the supported version, you might have to check with Oracle on the difference between compatibility and the full mode.
As far as i know, the evaluation of the Pega 7 platform is only done on the full versions and not by any compatibility modes.
If the DB is being used only by Pega, then you can think of removing the compatibility mode and making it a full 11G R2 version.
