Part Upgrade Feasibility
Could you please advise if it is at all feasible to upgrade only 'm' out of a total of 'n' different Applications already in Production (no multi-tenancy) so that all applications coexists in the same environment (database)?

Hi,
It is not feasible as the data schema is also upgrade to the newer version. Co-existance of multiple applications with different PRPC versions on the same databse it not proven still.
Thank you,

Hi Jaffer,
Will the DATA Schema be common for both the Pega 6 and Pega 7 applications (residing on separate RULES Schema)? If so, could you please briefly describe the approach you have mentioned?
Thanks,
Arindam

Hi,
In the same database over different dedicated schemas for RULES and DATA this is achieveable.
Sharing the same DATA schema is not achievable considering the Pega 7 DATA schema would not be forward compatible with PRPC v6.

If Client has issue (out of money) to procure and setup new database, then they can create 2 new schema in same database, old schema will continue to support 6.x version and new 2 schema in same database will be used for new 7.x applications.
at the Appliction server also, without setting up new enviornment/box they can create new JVM in same node for holding Pega 7.x EAR/WAR. provided that box has enough memory.
but in same PRPC installation in same schema hosting both 6.x and 7.x not possible at all.

Hi,
I think the discussion was more around sharing the DATA schema or the tables in the DATA schema between 6.x and 7.x versions of Pega, this is not possible as I mentioned earlier.
The upgraded DATA schema cannot be shared with 6.x Pega as it would not be compatible, forward compatibility is never provided by any product to my level of understanding and exposure.
Configuring multiple schemas in a single database, sharing the same application server, etc., kind of approaches are not for sharing the same DATA schema between the different versions of Pega.

Yes Chaitra, I mentioned the same thing that it is not possible to share same DATA schema (even Rule schema) for 2 different version of PRPC.
But I was trying to say if the requirement is to have same database/schema because of Client does not have money to procure new database box, then what could be alternate solution.
