Drop index as part of schema modification for pega 8.7.1 upgrade

Pega Upgrade Application Wizard is displaying list of drop indexes to be run on the upgraded application post upgrade from 8.4 to 8.7.1 for vanilla PRPC. What is the reason behind  the drop indexes?

Even though Indexs are used for improving performance, poorly designed or redundant indexes can cause negative impact. hence  As part of optimization and performance impacts, few indexes are identified by Pega Engineering team as redundant or not required. 

Even in upgrade logs, you will find few indexes being dropped.
