Update Pega 7.3 to 8.7.1
Hi All,
We are looking for an upgrade guide for
Platform: Pega 7.3 to 8.7.1
Customer Service: Pega 7.22 to 8.7.1
Our targetted platform is: On-Prem to Client Managed cloud
On-Prem: Apache Tomcat / MS SQL to Client-Managed Cloud: Apache Tom / Azure Managed SQL.
We just want to be sure that we can upgrade Pega CS from 7.22 >> 8.7.1 without going through an interim version upgrade.
Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

@imranullah We are in process of upgrading our application from 7.3.1 to 8.61. There will be some issues always which you need to resolve on case to case basis. To answer your question I dont think there is need for interim upgrade.

@AmitD927 - The reason behind asking this is because for another upgrade of Pega from 7.x to 8.4 there were issues and Pega recommended instead of start to end version direct upgrade, it was recommended to follow an interim update. We believe that this might have been fixed with 8.7.1. But just wanted to hear from the broader forum if anyone else had to go through the same process.

@imranullah We had upgraded from 6.3 to 8.7.1 last week. We faced few issues while upgrading, so we upgraded initially from 6.3 to 7.4 and then to 7.4 to 8.7.1. Whole process should be complete in 8 hrs. But my observation is there is no need to go for interim upgrade if it is from 7.x to 8.x.

What is the process followed for Upgrade? in-place or Out of place?
How are you planning to handle the live data (Existing cases, assignments, attachments etc... in live)?
Did you follow different methods for Lower environment & Live?
What are the major issues faced during upgrade?
