Diff between case and wrkobject
Hi Team,
I am going through case management of SAE 1 , previously i worked in PRPC 5.4 SP2, I am much familiar with the concept of work object which is nothing but a request.
After going through the Case management, i understood that this case is also nothing but a request , hence it is same as workobject but it is hadled in a simple manner with stages and steps compared to 5.4 .
i just wanted to know differences between case and workobject ? and why the name is changed from work object to case ,completely removing the concept of work object from PEGA 7.

Hi Mohan,
Since you mentioned working in 5.4 I'm going to make an assumption that you are familiar with the terms and features/functionality of work-object (no child objects) and work-cover (supporting child objects). In version 5 the default was to treat each work object as an individual request and by default inheritance was set to the work-object class. In version 6 and version 7 we transitioned to defaulting to inheriting from work-cover. We expect our customers to build systems with cases that have subcases. Or Covers with multiple work objects. When all the child objects are resolved the cover is resolved. The case designer in Pega 7 allows you to create the work-cover parent-child (work object aka request) relationships, subprocesses and manage the object locking much more easily thru a guided gui tool. In the SSA course more time is spent on the types of rules and the rule configurations that result from the case designer gui.
