Yes, if your property is of Text property type, you cannot use "sum" in a declare expression rule.

You will need to delete away the TotalPTO field, then recreate a new one and ensure you configure it to use Decimal before you save it.

To be more specific, locate the TotalPTO property in the Application Explorer, i.e. navigate to the class that contains the TotalPTO property, open the property and click on "Delete" button to delete away.

If you can still use the Form Configuration dialog, then create a new one using it. Otherwise, right click on the "Data Model" in the application explorer and create a new TotalPTO property as Decimal.

I apologize but I think I need more specific instructions.  I clicked Designer Studio and have looked around in the various areas as well as in HRServices but I really don't know how to navigate this environment yet.  I am very new to all of this and am struggling to find my way.  At first I thought I found what I needed to delete and realized that I deleted the PTO Object instead. I don't know if that is going to negatively impact me down the road.  I did not see a Total PTO property in that area and I do not know where else to look.

Go to the Application Explorer, then expand the TimeOff case type until you see TotalPTO. Click on it and when the rule form opens, click on the Delete button to delete the property.

Then you should be able to recreate a new TotalPTO but be careful to set the correct property type. :-)
