Browser Crash

Hi 

I was going through this topic, from High availability

If a browser crash happens how do we identify if the authentication cokkie was lost( other than application asking for credentials). In what scenarios the authentication cookie will be lost. The reason is if a user is working on a case and a browser crash occurs, what are the chances of not losing the uncommitted data.
