Hey Charlie,
I swear this is not a pre-planned audience plant. I actually had a few questions, so why not ask here for everyone's benefit? :)
First one isn't as much a specific question as a request for a brief overview of My Groups vs. My Spaces. I think I can make some pretty educated guesses as to their overall intended purpose, but I can see some areas where there is enough crossover that either could be used to achieve certain needs. It would be great to hear your take on how you see each being leveraged.

Hi Brendan,
Thanks for your question!
A Group was designed as a way to help people evaluate members for a project. For example, you want to create a new project team and be able to compare them against a list of criteria (e.g., platform ready, most recent certification, availability for a project). My Groups allows you to create a roster and do a quick comparison. You can then invite Collaborators to view the Group you created and ask them to provide their feedback (which Group members cannot see). Based on that feedback, you can add or delete members until you come up with the final configuration.
Once you finalize the Group you want, you can then create a Team Space, which is a collaborative area that all of the Group Members then become a part of. Spaces allows the team members to have Pulse conversations with one another; post content (documents and links); create sub-Spaces (if you have sub-teams, for example), and manage tasks (similar to a Trello board).
Think of My Groups as a planning tool to decide who you want to be on your team, and My Spaces as a working tool once you've created your team.
Does that help?

Second question, much more specific :)
I've a group set up with four team members. On the group card displayed on the My Active Groups tab, it says the group has "1 contributing member". What is the metric of "contributing group member" registering against?

Pegasystems Inc.
US
Good question!
Contributing Member actually refers to the Collaborators you've invited to comment on your Group. We're in the process of changing the label on the Active Groups tab to make that clear. We will also indicate the number of Group Members on the My Groups landing page. Look for that change to be live by the end of July.

Thanks for your question. As far as I know, that version is only applicable to Pega employees.
@margo_romo ... could you please provide your perspective on this?

Hello!
Yes, our InVision account is Pega-only. Was there a specific tutorial that you were looking to get more information on?

Hi Charlie - I have two questions for you:
1) What is the process to have access to create a group (My Pega -> My Group -> Create a Group) capability? I would like to have few lead engineers in my Organisation to have this access to help evaluate.
2) Once a group is created, I have added few members to the group and it displays a list of columns. However when I click on "Export to Excel", the boolean values are not populated. For e.g: "Platform Ready".
Please advise.
Thanks,
Titto

Hi Titto,
Thanks for your questions.
1) The access to create a Group is managed by Matt Ruffing @RUFFM. He can help with that request.
2) I see what you mean about the Readiness values not being populated. Let me check with the tech team and get back to you.
Thanks,
Charlie

@Keating Hi Charlie,
Can the groups/spaces be used for study groups and knowledge sharing as well?
When creating the group, are individuals allowed to search the whole community or is just narrow list?
thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob,
Yes, Spaces is a perfect use case for study groups and knowledge sharing! All members of a Space can have ongoing conversations; post content (links and documents); and assign/complete tasks.
The way My Pega is currently configured, you have to first create a Group before you can create a Space. We are looking to relax that requirement in the future so that people can create Spaces directly without having to first create a Group.
You need admin access to create Groups/Spaces. If you have the Create a Group button on your My Groups page (see attached), then you can create a Group and spin off a Team Space from there. If you don't see the Create a Group, then Matt Ruffing @RUFFM can help with that.
Any member of a Space can search for other members within that Space. In general, though, Clients can only search for other Community Members within their own organization, as well as Independents and University Students. Likewise, Partners can only search for other Community Members within their own organization, as well as Independents and University Students. Independents and Guests do not have access to search. So, if you're a Client or Partner, you can search via Find a Community Member, which you can access on the left-hand nav in My Pega (see attached).
I hope that helps answer your questions. If not, please leave a follow-up question. I'm also happy to schedule a call/WebEx with you to walk through any of the My Pega functionality.
