Release Notes
The Pega Platform 8.6 Release Notes are available as Archived Release Notes.

Pega Platform changes with update impact -- Resolved Issues that require the client to take some action, for example, change a setting, restart the system, and so on.
The Resolved Issues of client-reported fixed issues are different from the Pega Platform changes with update impact.

Pega Platform 8.6 Patch Releases
After you have installed Pega Platform 8.6, you can update to a patch release.
A note about Patch Releases
When you update to the Pega 8.6 release, you get the latest patch release that is available when you choose to update. For example, as of 07July2022, the latest patch release for Pega Platform 8.6 is Pega 8.6.5; later, Pega Platform version 8.6.6 and later patch releases will be available.
Pega Platform 8.6 is under standard support until 01November2022, and then it is under extended support until 31May2024.

The Update and Patch site asks you for your deployment type and then asks you what you want to do. Based on your answers to these questions and additional questions, the site provides guidance and links to the installation or update documentation that you need.
Update your Pega Cloud deployment to the latest Pega Cloud release
On the Update and Patch site, when you choose to update your Pega Cloud® deployment to the latest Pega Cloud release, you select 8.4.2 or later as your current release.

Update your Pega Cloud deployment by applying the latest patch for your current release
On the Update and Patch site, when you choose to update your Pega Cloud® deployment by applying the latest patch for your current release, you select 8.3 or later as your current release.

Update your on-premises deployment to the latest Pega Platform release
On the Update and Patch site, when you choose to update your Pega Platform 8.6 on-premises deployment to the latest Pega Platform release, you select 8.4.2 or later as your current release. Then select your application server and database.
For the application server and database that you specify, read the guidance provided and follow the documentation links.
Update your on-premises deployment by applying the latest patch for your current release
On the Update and Patch site, when you choose to update your Pega Platform 8.6 on-premises deployment by applying the latest patch for your current release, you select 8.4 or later as your current release.
Read Keep current by applying the latest patch to Pega Platform 8.4 and Patching systems without downtime (for Pega Platform version 8.4 and later). Then download the cumulative patch release that you need from My Pega > My Software.
Update your client-managed cloud deployment to the latest Pega Platform release
On the Update and Patch site, when you choose to update your client-managed cloud deployment to the latest Pega Platform release, read the guidance for Keeping Pega Platform current and Installing, patching, or updating Pega software.
