What transfer protocol is used when the File Listener rule interacts with objects in a S3 bucket?

Hello,

We have a requirement to listen to objects(text files) in a S3 bucket. We are using PRPC 7.4. What is not clear to me is how Pega interacts with the files since S3 is not a file server perse. Specifically I would like to know the protocol used in the interaction.

Pega uses AWS S3 java SDK to interact with files on an S3 bucket. Using the SDK we provide the basic file management operations on S3 objects similar to the local file system.

Please note that the above statement is true when you are using the out of the box Pega S3 capabilities like repositories. If the S3 bucket is mounted to a local drive via a third party library then the behavior depends on that library.
