what is the format of inventory file and why do I ask ?
What is the format of the inventory file, and why am I asking ?
Well, often we have two inventory files from two customer systems, and we want to compare to see what hot fixes are installed on one system but not the other.
Today, we have to load each inventory on the update manager landing page of some system in-house, expand all the sections (installed, partially installed, not installed), save the results, then text-compare them.
It would be nice to be able to go more directly from these inventory files to a text-compare. /Eric

Although I don't know the answer to the question, I will point out (as you are probably already be aware, but seems relevant to this discussion) that as of 7.1.8 the new Hotfix Manager outputs the scan in CSV format which makes this much easier going forward.

On 717 and previous the inventory is a serialized java object of class com.pega.pegarules.updatemanager.scan.PRScanner which cannot be easily converted into a usable text format.
Eric, if this is for our legacy PRPC release, I know a few folks made an internal app which can consume two inventories for comparison. Reach out to Gisela Rodrigues, Tushar Agarwal for details.
