What is the difference between local action and flow action

Can anyone help me in explaining What is the difference between local action and flow action ?

This has actually been asked before here: Local Action Vs Flow Actions
A local action does not progress the flow from the current assignment (You can think of it almost like a flow action that starts and ends from the same assignment shape), while a flow action will complete the current assignment and move the flow forward.

Hi Pavithra,
A flow action is something, which helps in progressing the case/flow forward.
Where as a local action is something , which doesn't progress the case , but an ui will be rendered so that user can perform an action .
How ever a flow action can also be used as a local action by the below setting on flow action's action tab .
