What is the best way to convert the Tradition Portal with Gadget rules to composite portal in pega 7.1.7?
What is the best way to convert the traditional portal where we have html rule in the gadget rule to composite portal in pega 7.1.7.
Used approach:
Created a screen layout of type top left.
Created a section with layout group and each layout is a gadget similar to traditional portal.
Using this layout the expand contract feature is similar to the traditional gadget rule.
Challenges:
In traditional portal we have gadget rule in the form of html rule , also on the click on these gadget there is wide and narrow gadget.

Narrow column means it will appear on the left side ( which one is traditionally narrow ) and the wide one will appear on right side.
What exactly the challenge you are facing ? In order to have the exact look n feel , I think its better to redesign them with out of the box section / link rules rather than relying on the existing HTML gadget rules

I was trying to have the same look and feel so that user don't have much issue in using the portal.
So I created a harness for composite portal, and included a section on the left, whose design are as follows:
This section contains a layout group(accordion) which contains many layouts , in each layout I have included the custom html rule that is the narrow gadget rule.
Behavour of the traditional Portal
In traditional portal whenever you click on any gadget on the left hand side , 2 things happen.
1. In left hand side, except the gadget that is clicked everything else[that is other gadget] is minimized.
2. On the right hand side, Corresponding gadget configured in the wide area is displayed.
Behavior of the Composite Portal:
In Composite portal whenever you click on any layout, following things happen
1. In left hand side , except the layout that is clicked everything else[that is other layout in the same layout group (accordion)] is minimized.
2. On the right hand side, the configured showHarness on the action tab of the layout is not triggered. Because of which nothing is displayed on the right.
I m not able to understand why the configured showharness is not shown.

Link would not work as there is a ui that need to be displayed on the left hand side.
