Validate the record before saving in data base

Hi,

I wanted to validate the record before saving (OBJ-SAVE) in data base, if it is already existed or not, if exists it should display the error otherwise it should save the record

How can I achieve this

Hi BV,

You can achieve this through the validation rule which is already a method in the activity. You scenario is to validate a record in  the data table whether that presence is there or not.If not save the value other wise through an error.For this you can use the validate rule before the obj save.If validation is true,you can set error message and display on the screen if the method value return false you can continue with  the next step to save the record in the data table.
