Tracking Unplanned Work in PMF 7.1.2
Lets say we have a 10 days sprint and a resource is working on it. He/she is supposed to work all 8 hours on the sprint related work only(Unrealistic, but think of it as utopian world). so finally hours spent by resoruce towards sprint should be 80 hours. But the BAU continues and he/she will be pulled into all sorts of quick discussions, IMs, meetings...etc.Now the resource can practically log only 70 hours towards sprint. How to track remaining 10 hours of adhoc work per resource per sprint ? I checked the reason field on the task to see if I can report on Unplanned work, Planned work...etc, but i didn't find a report available for that purpose.
Questions:
1) Can I report on Unplanned Work per sprint at resource level using PMF ?
2) Obviously this is going to screw brundown chart because at times resources will be working on tasks out side of sprint more than half of the day. So is there a way to track it seperately without impacting it?
PMF version: 7.1.2
Thanks,
Ravi

Hello Ravi,
Simply said, SCRUM should not be used for resource level effort tracking, scrum is done best when we look at the team as a whole rather individual resources. Don't do unplanned work during the sprint, planned work should have higher priority than unplanned work.
PMF also considers 6hrs as ideal day and velocity is the only measure for the sprints success and failure.
How to track remaining 10 hours of adhoc work per resource per sprint ? - Plan your sprint work accordingly thinking that there will be these hours going into adhoc work.
Hope this helps.
