I have looked in to both the properties,

At high level, I could say

"pyStatusWork" is available property, thus you can re-save it in application ruleset and override it usage as per your -requirement while pyWorkStatus is a Final rule, thus un-editable.

pyStatusWork derives from "Work-" class and could be leverage to set the status of work object directly while pyWorkStatus is of Data- class, thus couldn't be set on work class directly, if i am not wrong.

I will try to do more research internally and update you.
