selectMethod custom property in datasource in Websphere for Pega 7.1.8

Pega 7.1.8 installation guide (Websphere / MS SQL) recommends to keep the value as "cursor" for the custom property "selectMethod" in the Websphere data source.

What is the reason for keeping this value as "cursor"?

This is a property specific to Microsoft Sql server jdbc driver, see this link for details: Setting the Connection Properties. For pega PRPC, this property needs to be set to cursor as long as the database is sqlserver, independent of app servers.
