Running PRPC 6.2 SP2 on Microsoft SQL Server 2014 in compatibility mode
Hello all,
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 is approaching end of service. I'd like to upgrade to a more recent version, say 2014 or 2016, and run a PRPC 6.2 SP2 database on that server, in 2008 compatibility mode. Sadly, upgrading my PRPC application is not an option.
Long shot, I know - but has anyone had any experience of this, or running PRPC databases on later versions of RDBMS servers in compatibility modes? What should I be aware of?
Thanks,
Ant.
Hello,
Greetings!
Interesting question however we have not seen any users running this way as of now. If they were doing so I believe worked properly as we have no known issues in the past.
This indeed would require a discussion on the DB forum.
For your help I could find out a post which might give a heads up to still allow you to go ahead and give a try :https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/cindygross/2010/06/07/sql-server-lifecycle-and-the-compatibility-level-settings/
But we strongly would suggest you to upgrade your PRPC to 7.x versions as you might not only end up not having support for older DB versions but also have multiple user experience issues because of browser compatabilty.
