Queue Processors and data flows

What is the relation between queue processors and data flows? Do data flows gets generated behind the scene when we user Queue-for-processing method in an activity.

I observed the instances of Pega-DM-DDF-Work class and noticed it had data flow instances of queue processors.

Any knowledgebase content which can help me understand queue processors, please?
