Pega Rulebase Installation Support
Rulebase Installation is taking more than 10 hrs (install.sh script). Can anyone input what would be the estimated time to complete rulebase installation.

How far is the database server from the node where you are running the install? An install/upgrade is very database intensive so you want to be in the same data center as the database. The more hops across the network you have to do the more time it is going to take.

Hi Celeste,
Due to software upgrade, system got rebooted and install.sh was killed. We re-triggered it and this time it got failed due to primary key constraint issue. Can you please advise.

I'm assuming the software upgrade is unrelated to the Pega installation that you are doing. Before you restarted the install did you wipe the schema(s)?

No, we did not wipe out schemas. Is there any script which can be used to cleanup Database? We see a cleanup.sh script in Pega package. Can we run it to remove schemas?

I mean running cleanup.sh script to wipe out schemas.

That cleanup script is to cleanup old rulesets not to wipe the schema.
In the schema/generated/*/install directory there should be a drop script.
Or you can run generateddl with actions=drops to generate the drop script again and then apply it.

Celeste,
We wiped out the schemas and invoked install.sh script again. This time, it is still running for more than 24 hrs. Host where script is running is in same data center as the database server. Can you pls suggest.

Can anyone suggest why it would take more than 48hrs to run install.sh script even though Host and Database server are running on same data center.

Did the install finish? At the end of the logs it will have a summary and we can see where all of the time was spent. Was there something going on with the database (backup, someone running log query taking resources, etc.) at the time of the install?
