Pega Personal Edition 8.3 Install fails

Unzipped 8.3 PE and click install. CMD opens and closes quickly. Restart and try again install starts runs for a few minutes then fails. Delete files, restart drag install into CMD installation runs then fails. Image and log below.

Circling back to how I resolved my issue. I sent this to the appropriate Pega team a few months back so I am not sure if it was changed since then.

In the build.xml file there is a line of code that appears to run on a previously deleted line and causes a setup failure. The way we got it to work was deleting and only leaving the last instance.

 

Basically there are 3 instances of <delete file="CreatePegaShortCut.vbs"/> in the build.xml, delete the first two and leave the last.

 

Fresh install worked after this for several of us.

Could you please check if you have added the environment variables correctly or not (JAVA_HOME and path).

If these are correctly set please add system32 location also in your environment path variable.

I have a similar problem,

- I right click on install.bat and select 'Run As Administrator', and then enter my credentials

- however nothing appears to happen, the installer does not appear to run

If I run as a normal user I see the installer, but the install fails at the same point CreatePegaShortCut.vbs   (Access is denied)

I faced the same error during installation even after setting the JAVA_HOME and path.

Only the startup icon was created. Launched it and directly hit the URL "localhost:[portnumber]/prweb/PRServlet". I got the login screen and was able to make it through.

Hi, I did tried to install 8.3 and faced the same error. I'm new to pega world. could you please help on the issue and how to resolve it.

Even though the installation finished unsuccessfully, I could see the startup and shutdown icons on my desktop. I assume it went well just like your case ignoring the "installation finished unsuccessfully" message. I started the server startup, how would I know whether the server started successfully or not ? I dont see any message that conveys the server started successfully. Even tried to hit the url as you mentioned "https://localhost:9090/prweb/PRServlet", I have configured my port to 9090 during installation.

I'm eager to see the login screen and go ahead with my learning.! Share your thoughts.

Hello,
I have a similar problem. I get an error when installing PEGA 8.1:
1 / The file "CreatePegaCut.vbs" is in "access denied".
2 / The "pg_ctl" file cannot start the server.
3 / "PegaGuiInstallerTemp0 / build.xml" does not connect to the database.
4/ Connection to localhost:5432 refused


Here are the points that I checked during my attempts:
-The environment variable is well redirected to the correct version of JAVA.
-The execution of "install.bat" is done in administrator
-All temporary files concerning the installer have been cleaned.
-The installation is at the root of the windows files (C: /)
-The firewall is up and the DataBase and Tomcat ports are available.

I also successfully installed version 8.3 a month ago.

Do you have any other solution or idea to contribute?
