PEGA OOTB search is working intermittently

Product used: PEGA 7.1.7.

PEGA OOTB search is working intermittently. Behavior is sporadic. Unable to search work objects. To fix this we need to Re-Index the work class each time. Unpleasant experience for business users. Please suggest a permanent fix if there is any.

Understanding the actual issue deeper would help see if the issue could be overcome without upgrading to 7.1.9. To start with logs on the search node, screenshots of the search landing page, dump of the pr_sys_statusnodes table would help.
