Pega Chat - Where to start?
Hello,
So, we got this new requirement of implementing live chat in our App
Our App is custom made on top of pega platform. We did not purchase Customer Service pega application, but looking at it we can see that there is a module for live chat.
Can the live chat be used and plugged into a custom application or it is only strictly for Pega CS OOTB app?
In case it can be pluggable, Is this module, licensed or free?
Where do we start with this chat thing?
We want to check if pega provides something plug an play easily, or we go with third party open source API ?

The problem is that I cannot find an answer if this can be used separately or it has to be part of Pega "Customer Service" app.

Hi, @ElieR811 - Pega Chat only works with the Pega Customer Service application. The Pega Chat "solution" consists of (1) the Pega Chat server/engine (which processes the chat messages back and forth between end-users/customers and customer service representatives), and (2) the Pega Customer Service application (which is what CSRs use to engage with customers). The Pega Chat server only works with customer service; it is not a standalone system.

I guess for Pega clients who are building their own systems with the PRPC, a third party (Or an open source solution) , is going to be the quickest win.
