Pega 7 database character Encoding -Unicode

Hi,

Our application is in pega version 6.2sp2 and would like to upgrade to Pega 7.As per the installation/upgrade guide database and application server character encoding should be unicode.Currently our application server(WAS 7) character encoding is in ISO8859-1 and database (DB2 LUW) encoding is IBM-1252.The header values for Content-Type is set as text/html;charset=UTF-8 and Content-Language as en-US.When we upgrade do we need to change the application server and database server character encoding to unicode? Is there any issue if we are not changing it?

Yes, DB2 Character encoding of either UNICODE or EBCDIC is necessary. If you do not then data stored maybe truncated or corrupted as the application streams UNICODE (UTF-8) data .
