Paging in Report Defination
Hi - Can you please clarify how paging works in report definition? If there are 10000 rows in a table and RD criteria satisfies for all the rows and if paging is enabled with page size 10 then every time the RD is called only 10 rows will be fetched from the DB or it will bring all the rows but in the screen only 10 rows will be shown at a time?

Hi ,
It fetches only the number of rows as mentioned in pagination settings.
Clicking on next and previous makes a DB call again.

To get only 10 results at a time, use 'Maximum number of rows to retrieve' option in report definition, to restrict the number of rows at database query level.
As for pagination, it works as below:
Enabled paging with page size 20 and there are 50 records in total. Results will have 3 pages.

Hi Evita- thank you so much for your reply, just to confirm if we don’t use “Maximum number of rows to retrieve option” in the report definition and go for paging then from db end RD will fetch all the data (matched by where condition)first and create the clipboard pages as per page size say 20 per page, am I correct? In other words simple paging without “Maximum number of rows to retrieve option” dose not restrict no of rows to fetch. Kindly confirm this.

Thanks Evita but my question was if we use paging with 20 items per page will it fetch all the data from db end first then create clipboard pages with 20 items per page ? Just wanted to know with paging option enabled if it will bring all the data from db end first or not.
