Solution was:
- Run Internet Explorer with elevated(Administrator) UAC (right click on your IE shortcut and select "run as Administrator").
- If you run IE as administrator the install box does not need credentials to install and can install properly.
- The problem will go away permanently even for browser sessions where the browser is not running elevated privileges.

Just to expand on your posted solution - this prompt is because IE is trying to install ActiveX controls - This is why it requires admin privileges and explains why you only need to do this once (it only needs to authenticate to install the controls - not run them).
- Though if you ever access another Pega application with a higher version of those controls, it will prompt you again like this (to install the newer controls).
