- create a clone of pyGridModalTemplate
- remove previous & add buttons
- associate the cloned rule to this use case/screen

I can do a saveas to the rule and do the changes to the section but the thing If at all we are using grid layout else where in the application that would be impacted so we not done in this way.

- this shouldn't happen. we're making a clone of template and associating it to this use case. (CustomGridModalTemplate)
Please share your observations if I'm missing something. Thank you!

I didn't understand what you say Please can come with steps to do.
If you have seen the screen shot doc you can find two screen shots one shows the repeat grid layout on the text edit icon when I click it open a modal dialog
Its a local action called over there when the user clicks on save it should be closed during this there are two properties which have validation on property level if this
validation is getting fired then the previous and add button were shown on the screen along with the save and cancel which were customize checked button on the flow action.

else we could override OOTB pyGridModalTemplate applying with a visible when condition relying on newAssignPage to get the current screen name for customization to appear. Please share your thoughts, Thank you!

Ideally just setting the param ShowOnlyOKCancel to true should solve this issue. But the suggested method is to override the template as Phani mentioned.
However as per my understanding your approach of ShowOnlyOKCancel is not working since after validation, the param is getting lost and ShowOnlyOKCancel is not getting reset to true.
You also mentioned you have set this param to true in post activity also, so ideally that should fix your problem. BUT if you are using a validation rule and there are validation errors, post activity will not be called and that's the reason you are facing this issue. You can move the validate call inside post processing after setting ShowOnlyOKCancel to true OR override model template.
Both of these should fix the issue for sure. Let us know if this clarifies
