Imports in Pega 7.3.1

Dears,

We are migrating from Pega 7.1.8 to 7.3.1 as the development is ongoing.

All the deployments and rules and data imports we did in 7.1.8 used to be in the form of JAR. But having used 7.3.1 also, i have received such imports as a ZIP file rather than JAR in it and when asked, it seems the exports in 7.3.1 come out as a ZIP rather than a JAR.

My question is: Can we use the same JARs created in 7.1.8 for import in 7.3.1 without any issues or we need to handle it differently and if so, how.

Hi Jagannath,

Thanks for posting on PSC.

I have tried replicating use-case reported in this port internally in our Pega Lab's 7.3.1 environment successfully. It should be noted that import wizard allows File with extension ".jar" or ".zip".

When an application is exported using Package Wizard, it creates ".zip" export file. As per my knowledge, you can import ".jar" or ".zip" file in the Pega 7.3.1 environment.

Hi Asif,

I tried to import zip file in 7.3.1(zip file i extracted was from 7.2.1), am facing this error message as mentioned below. Please help.

Error message:

There is nothing to import -- the rules contained in this archive are already present in the database.
Post-import actions are complete.

How are you performing the import (prpcUtils, prpcServiceUtils, Designer Studio)?

If you are importing through Designer Studio; after you've uploaded the file can you click on the "Show content details" button and verify if this show any rules/classes?

Hi Laurence,

I imported through Designer studio,on click of show content details had "0 instances", but i tried now it got imported. Thanks
