As per Santanu's suggestion - I would recommend creating a simple Activity (like the one in the attached video) to convert a basic 'hello world' example first: and then introduce characters outside of 7-Bit ASCII; I would proceed in an order like this:

1. Create a simple ASCII 'hello world': make sure this converts.

2. Add in some accented characters (say French, German)

3. Add in some Greek or Cyrillic characters.

4. Add in some Chinese Characters.

If you find problems even at step 2/3: then (as per the video) - double-check your FONTs directory - and additionally - check the 'file.encoding' JVM setting (you can do this on the home page of PRSYSMGMT/SMA  - right at the bottom of the screen) - usually it is better to set this value to 'utf-8' (you'll need to restart your web-server for any changes to take effect).
