How many stages we can configure in pega?

Can any one tell me how many maximum number of stages we can have?

There is no finite number. However, the industry-accepted best practice is to limit the number of stages in any one case type to 7 +/- 2. Keep in mind that too many stages makes the case life cycle hard to understand, and difficult to manage.

Discuss the case life cycle with your colleagues to determine how to break it down so that each case type represents a unique business objective.
