How to close the Excel file where the name of the file is not constant and we opened in runtime

I have a scenario where I have a icon to download and IE shows a notification asking for Open, Save and Close. I am clicking on Open Excel instead of download, and name of the file changes every time. Now I want to interrogate the opened excel and close it as well. Someone please help me on it.
