How to add password to PDF when try to edit PDF not opening PDF
Hi Team,
We have a requirement to secure PDF from editing, required to ask password when try to edit PDF only. User should be able to open PDF without enter any password.
As per the below code when user open the PDF also need to enter password.

I am affraid, i dont think this feature is available as OOTB.

Hi Santanu,
Yes agree with you. However in the java code if we set the password to empty then, it will not ask for a password when opening the pdf however user will not be able to modify PDF using Adobe, that is what we did.

We used the code in Pega 7.3.1 version.
Changes performed for the java code,
- Required to change com.pega to org ( Example :- com.pega.apache.pdfbox.pdmodel.PDDocument doc=null; org.apache.pdfbox.pdmodel.PDDocument doc=null;)
- Added two new parameters to set username and password.
String Password = tools.getParameterPage().getString("Password");
String UserName = tools.getParameterPage().getString("UserName");
- Removed ap.setReadOnly() and added the below code to lock pdf from modifying and allowing printing.
ap.setCanModify(false);
ap.setCanPrint(true);
- When we give a password then whenever open the PDF also asks a password, if user does not want that behaviour simply we can keep password empty then it will asks a password when try to modify using Adobe.
