Future of Complex Event Processing?

From the PDN, there's a document https://pdn.pega.com/reporting/how-to-create-and-subscribe-to-business-events

with the helpful preface "Business events are no longer available starting in PRPC 7.1.6."

For the last few months, we customers have been asking what the replacement capability is. It seems prudent that this document be updated to indicate that.
