for everyone on the thread, you can try deleting /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules, then restarting the VM.
shutdown the VM and set the VirtualBox network adapter to Bridged.
start the VM; do not worry if an IP address is not available.
login to the VM console with the username: root
password - install
enter the command: rm /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
reboot the VM with the command: shutdown -r now
After the VM restarts, enter the command: ifconfig
hopefully you will see an IP address for eth0
let me know you y'all get along.

If Bridge network is not working, you can use NAT,
NAT -> Click on Port Forward ->Add new rule-> Enter as shown in picutre.
Now access your prpc instance as http://localhost:9696/prweb/PRServlet

This worked well for me - solved the problem I had due to trying to access the exercise system when connected to a VPN.
