Drag and Drop from Outlook to a P7 case

My client (JPMC) is looking for a way to drag and drop an email from outlook into a case in Pega 7.1.8. This functionality existed in P6 with activeX but those controls are no longer supported. Further, that woudl only work with IE. If the outlook file is dragged into the desktop and then to the cse the fuction works but it is a poor experience. In looking this issue up on the interwebs, this seems to be a known problem where the browsers are not "smart" nough to recognize the outlook message as an actual file. What can we do here?

I would start by understanding in general how a java app can consume a drag-and-dropped email.   This google search string seems to show a number of promising leads:
