Document Attachment Handling
Our workflow application uses the document upload feature to allow users to attach files to a work object. The category value list is used to indicate the document type for further handling in the workflow. In some cases due to document size, the users choose to upload an entire set of documents into a general category instead of separating them by document type.
Our challenge is to create a design which allows for dynamic separation of a bulk upload and assignment into their respective document types. We have investigated using some sort of bar code embedded into the first page header of each document, but not quite sure if PRPC can recognize and handle this. Any suggestions or leads you can share are appreciated. Thank you.

Have you considered adding a Content or Document Management system to Pega? Pega supports CMIS in our recent releases. Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) is an open standard that allows different content management systems to inter-operate over the Internet.[1] Specifically, CMIS defines an abstraction layer for controlling diverse document management systems and repositories using web protocols. Alfresco and Microsoft Sharepoint are examples I see quite often. This will remove your attachment limitations by providing links to the CM or DM system. Bar code scanners are a great way to categorize documents in these systems. They also support version control, which will keep your content fresh.
