I am trying to setup new project in Eclipse to debug Java activity steps.
prpublic.jar file has been added to project following to https://community.pega.com/sites/default/files/help_v72/procomhelpmain.htm setup/basicsjavaeditor.htm
The code to test the sonfiguration is pretty simple:
import com.pega.pegarules.*;
public class TestPega {
public static void main(String[] args) {
try{
com.pega.pegarules.pub.util.PRFile myFile = new com.pega.pegarules.pub.util.PRFile("test.pdf");
}
catch(Exception e)
{
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
There is the error message in the execution:

Could someone help to configure new project in Eclipse to debug Java activity steps?
The same error when I sue Netbeans.

I have never used eclipse to debug java activity steps. However, I've often used a call to sendDebugMessageToTracer, which is very useful for putting information on the tracer to show what the java step is doing. For example:
pega_rules_utilities.sendDebugMessageToTracer("In the while-loop, strFound is " + strFound,"Pega-ProCom");
TWO IMPORTANT NOTES:
1) To allow these messages to be seen in your tracer, make sure you both ADD and ENABLE the "Debug" event type on the tracer settings screen.
2) In addition, see that ruleset mentioned in the second parameter, which is "Pega-ProCom" in the above example? You need to make sure your tracer settings has included a checkmark for that ruleset.

Hi,
It seems you missed to import some jars in your eclipse, as your code might import some other package related classes.
Actually this error comes when compiler cant find the imported class in your workspace.
