Can we go to last assignment on reopen of a work object instead of last stage or any stage ?

If I have 30 steps in a stage and I'm in 25th step. Then if I reopen this workobject to the last stage.

Should I perform the steps 1 to 25 again?

How to reopen the case from the last assignment?
