I think this statement from the Pega 7 FAQ answers this question:
Does the Pega 7 Platform process flow designer support standard BPML semantics?

There are many aspects and semantics of BPML, BPEL and BPMN in the Pega 7 Platform process modeler, though it is not strictly adhered to in favor of more business-friendly modeling notation and features
