Autocomplete Maximum characters

I am trying to have an autocomplete for a comments sections so that the user can autocomplete frequently used comments. The comment has a large amount of characters. The autocomplete isn't working for it so I am guessing it is because of the length of the comment.

What is the maximum length of characters an autocomplete can hold?

I have tried populating a text which has around 41 characters , but i could only see 31 characters in the autocomplete along with a + sign
