Agent node configuration
  1. A system has 3 nodes. 1 is configured as ’ background processing’, another 1 is configured as ‘web-user’ and last one is not configured.
    1. An agent is configured to run on all nodes. à Will it run on 3 nodes?
    2. An agent is configured to run on background processing node type. àIt will run on 2 nodes. On background processing and on un-typed node.
    3. An agent is configured to run on a node type - ‘Service’. à The agent will run on un-typed node.

Question: Are my above 3 understanding correct?

In general:

  • Nodes and Agents have a M:M relationship
  • A node can support zero to multiple classifications, 0:M
  • 0 classifications = Untyped node = “wild card” = Universal
  • An Agent must be classified. The default is BackgroundProcessing.
  • An Agent either runs on a node that supports its classification or on an untyped node.
  • If the Agent says to run on one node, Pega will find a valid node, singular, to run on
  • You can force an agent to run on any node by creating/modifying an Agent Schedule for that node
