I think you are missing prconfig at the beginning.

what version of prpc is this? How exactly are your DSS format? (screenshot would help). The common mistake of DSS is not including /default at the end.

Hi, i am trying to disable the MERGE and get back to INSERT/UPDATE statements. However,it is not working even after adding the suggested 2 DSS entries. I attached the screenshot as well. Can you help me spot the error ?

I don't see anything obviously wrong with these DSS settings. If you go into SMA -> Administration -> Configuration Management do you see them there?
Why is it that you want to switch back to insert/update? What version of Pega are you running?
